Programme production and distribution using MPEG-2 (MP@ML)

چکیده

The central theme of the ACTS ATLANTIC project has been the development of techniques which will allow highly-compressed MPEG-2, main-level, main-profile video and associated compressed audio, to be switched to video frame accuracy with minimal loss of quality. This has obvious applications within the distribution chain for digital television, in particular within presentation and continuity. It also has application in post-production when editing MPEG-2 compressed, main-level, mainprofile source material; such material may be the only format available from satellite feeds, archives and long distance terrestrial links.
